A Whirlwind 90 Days: The New CEOs Adventure at NRBP

When I stepped into the role of President and CEO at Newark Regional Business Partnership (NRBP) on September 16, 2024, I knew I was embarking on an exciting journey. As Greater Newark's premier chamber of commerce, NRBP has a rich history of connecting businesses and driving economic progress. Now, as my official listening tour comes to a close, I’m reflecting on the whirlwind of experiences these first 90 days have brought.

By the Numbers

Let’s start with some impressive figures:

• 600: Approximate number of guests hosted at various events, from our Golf Outing to the Eye Opener with Mayor Ras J. Baraka.
• 60: NRBP members visited, either at their facilities or in our offices.
• 20: Community events attended, strengthening our ties across Greater Newark.
• 10: New NRBP members welcomed, with 40 more prospective members in the pipeline.

New Initiatives and Revitalizations

We've been busy launching new programs and breathing fresh life into existing ones:

• Introduced "Engage and Exchange," a comprehensive member engagement initiative featuring a weekly newsletter as well as the members-only monthly webinar, and upcoming podcast and pop-up events.
  
• Rebooted the Transportation Council, focusing on projects, professionals, and issues impacting the industry.
• Renewed the mission of the Renaissance Newark Foundation (RNF), our 501(c)(3) affiliate, which will launch the "Navigating Newark Initiative" in 2025.
  

Community Engagement

We've been actively involved in the community:

• Participated in Giving Tuesday for RNF's Navigating Newark Initiative.
• Shared remarks at the Newark Summit and served on a panel at the League of Municipalities.
• Delivered the keynote address for the New Jersey Cybersecurity Regional Cluster business accelerator graduation held at Kean University.
  

Behind the Scenes

While engaging externally, we’ve also been improving internally:

• Restructured our staffing to maximize capacity and leverage team strengths.
• Revamped our communications to boost social media engagement and elevate NRBP’s brand visibility.
• Initiated internal team building to foster increased collaboration.
  

Looking Ahead

As we wrap up 2024, the future looks bright for NRBP and Greater Newark. We've announced our inaugural membership drive campaign for January – August 2025, and we're collaborating with even more community partners.
 
To our members, partners, and friends: thank you for making these first 90 days an incredible journey. Here's to a 2025 filled with more connections, growth, and success for Newark and beyond.
