Check out the work they've done thus far and learn how you can join the fight. ![]() The American Cancer Society, is on a #mission to free the world from cancer. Until we do, we'll be funding and conducting research, sharing expert information, supporting patients, and spreading the word about prevention. Here are some highlights of YOUR MAKING STRIDES dollars at work in the state of New Jersey: Research: As of February 1, 2018, there are $3.2 million dollars in active research grants throughout the state. 47 American Cancer Society funded researchers have gone on to win the Nobel Prize. Emotional Support: For more than 45 years, the American Cancer Society Reach to Recovery program has been helping people cope with their breast cancer experience. We proudly supported 252 patients through their journey. Lodging: Our Hotel Partners Program provided 119 patients with 1,107 nights at our home away from home, for free or reduced cost. Transportation: Our Road to Recovery program provides transportation to and from treatment for people with cancer who do not have a ride or are unable to drive themselves. We proudly provided 264 patients with 2,865 rides in the state. To learn more, including how to become a volunteer driver, please click here.
